Event Information

Reality Check was held on April 30, 2008, and it was a resounding success.  We are deeply grateful to all of the participants and volunteers who played an instrumental role in shaping the Puget Sound region’s future.  We’ve posted a few of the many comments that we received about the event from Reality Check attendees below:

"This looks like the U.N. of the Puget Sound region."

--Governor Christine Gregoire, in an excerpt from her keynote address.

"Everyone connected with yesterday’s event should be proud of the excellent turnout and the potential it might bring for positive change related to the challenges we face in mananging our growth so we can provide a good quality of life for the citizens of Puget Sound.  This will not be easy because we have fallen behind in terms of transportation and education.  It will require strong public and private leadership in a difficult anti-tax climate.  It will require a clear vision of our future and the passion by our leaders to take us there."

 --Reality Check Participant

"You and your gang did such an excellent job today with Reality Check.  It was particularly helpful for me to work out the regional puzzle with folks from rural areas. It was good to hear their concerns, and watch some of them make the transition to understanding why compact development around transit is practical and efficient, not just ideological."

 --Reality Check Participant

"I found it to be one of the most thought-provoking and valuable land use type events I’ve ever attended."

 --Reality Check Participant

"I’ve been talking to some of the participants and I’m hearing, in their minds, that there was real value created by the exercise and the follow-up analysis and discussion."

 --Reality Check Participant
